Why You Should Go to Breeders' Cup® 2018

By Evan Chronis July 11, 2018

The horse racing season is coming to a thunderous conclusion at Churchill Downs® this year with the Breeders' Cup® 2018! Coined the "World Championships" of Thoroughbred racing by those in charge of the event, the Breeders' Cup is youngest of the "Grand Slam of Thoroughbred Racing," which also includes the Kentucky Derby®, Preakness Stakes and the Belmont Stakes.

The event started in 1984 and has grown in significance every year since. The race changes location year to year, rotating between classic venues like Churchill Downs, Belmont Park, Santa Anita an d many more.

The two-day World Championships are highlighted by the Classic -- the main event race. Containing the highest purse of any of the Breeders' races, the Classic is open to three-year-olds and up and is a 1 1/4 mile sprint on dirt.

But why should you make the trip to Kentucky this November? The answer is simple: you can see the final act of one of the most exciting horse racing seasons in recent memory while also enjoying premium hospitality and much more.

Dress to the nines, sit back and enjoy everything there is to offer at the Breeders' Cup 2018!

You WON'T want to miss a chance at history.

The Triple Crown™ is considered the ultimate rarity in thoroughbred racing, yet the Grand Slam is an even more extraordinary feat.

Bob Baffert's Justify shocked the world by claiming back-to-back-to-back victories in the Kentucky Derby, Preakness Stakes and Belmont Stakes to achieve all three jewels of the Triple Crown and to write the three-year old colt's name into immortality.

But Justify isn't finished. There's still one more thing to do.

While some horses would take a long (and well deserved) break after completing the treble, Justify is getting back on the saddle and strapping up for the Breeders' Cup 2018. Baffert and Justify have done the math and know that the quadruple is more impressive than the triple.

Only one horse has completed the Grand Slam in history, but luck is on Baffert's side. The Baffert-trained American Pharaoh completed the Grand Slam in 2015 after claiming victory in that year's Breeders' Cup. American Pharoah broke a 37-year drought with his Triple Crown victory.

Can Baffert strike gold twice in back-to-back attempts? There's no guarantee that Justify will reign supreme at the Breeders' Cup, but he's currently the odds on favorite!

Congratulations-Justify
